Coming from the Promotional Industry where I spent 11 years and had some Hospitality experience, Packaging was really an interesting choice to enter into. The relevance the Packaging Industry has on everyday life makes it an easy shift. I completed the One-year Diploma (Part -Time) with the Institute of Packaging in 2017 after being in the Packaging industry for a year, and passed the diploma (Cum Laude), was a National Finalist for the Assignment and was issued a Certificate of Recognition by the World Packaging Organization for same. Packaging is now more than an Industry I work in but has become something to educate everyone about in terms of sustainability and becoming part of a circular economy.

After spending three years researching the dysfunctional food system in South Africa and exposing many misleading claims, Sonia Mountford launched EATegrity at the end of 2015, helping you find integrity in the food chain.
Enthusiastic about guiding and informing consumers through media, talks and social media, Mountford believes in growing an informed consumer voice who seeks traceable transparency to encourage meaningful change in our food system. She helped develop the groundbreaking Eat Out Sustainable Restaurant Award and is a judge for this award, which is now in its third year.
Having worked with emerging and small-scale farmers, she understands the concerns and constraints of lack of support and access to market. She is a strong promoter of Agroecology for a healthier, more equitable, more sustainable food system that enables nutritional food security for all.
She is highly critical of inauthentic solutions to our broken food system as is keenly aware of the ripple effect this has on the time spent on meaningful change for human health, livelihoods of farmers, environmental health, livestock conditions, food justice and social justice.
Mountford also consults with farmers, producers and retailers, beginning to assist them with Traceable Transparency to help them achieve and get their authentic sustainable claims noticed by consumers.
Her opinions can be viewed on her twitter account @EATegrity_Sonia and some of her work on www.eategrity.co.za

Since I can remember, my entrepreneurial journey has been led by my personal business philosophy: ‘Start, Go Big’. I was not afraid to jump in headfirst and try to succeed, as a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit have always been in my blood. My early fascination for technology and the emerging digital space in South Africa lead me to become the founder of a number of online marketing and e-commerce ventures. In addition to my digital projects, I co-own Salushi, a restaurant that has grown to become one of Cape Town’s favourite sushi destinations.
After my involvement in a diverse mix of industries, I can confidently say that thinking big is the key to any successful start-up. For me, ‘going big’ has resulted in living my vision to disrupt the traditional courier service by launching the on-demand delivery brand, Picup. We are on track to break boundaries and lead the way in the on-demand delivery space.
