We Are Food
After completing her Bachelor of Science Degree in Property Studies at UCT Jane decided on a major shift in direction, enrolling for a year-long Culinary Arts programme in Durban. During the course of the diploma she gained industry experience at The Oyster Box Hotel as well as within Unilever’s Staff Canteen, working with Royal Mnandi, where she learned the basics of large scale catering, quality standards in the food industry and supplier engagement. It was at this time that the idea for We are Food was launched, small scale from her home kitchen in 2013. With passion and perseverance she now heads up a 500m2 central kitchen, where she manages product development, meal production, food controls and staff training.
